Thinking of spending a day or two in the lap of nature? Then, here is a place very close to your thoughts. Paren is an offbeat and hidden destination of Dooars, located about 112kms from Siliguri.

Surrounded by thick wooded forest of pine and conifer trees, green lofty hills, rolling meadows and a meandering river along, is a hidden abode for nature lovers in Dooars. Perched at an elevation of 6200ft, Paren is blessed with soothing climate making it a favored tourist destination around anytime of the year (although every year during monsoon season from 15th June to 15th September all the forested area of Dooars remains close.) Paren with its serene and tranquil ambiance has become the place to find solitude midst the lap of Mother Nature.

Things to do in Paren

The most popular activity here is trekking and bird watching. The trek to Rachela Pass via Alubari and Lava is one of the favorites of avid trekkers here. A trek to Rachella Pass, is an ideal one where one can also view the dense untouched areas of Neora Valley Forest and border areas of Bengal, Sikkim and Bhutan.

One can relish the beauty of Paren by short jungle walks to Dalgaon, Gairibas and Rongo to discover the medicinal plants of the area which is filled with the chirping of exotic Himalayan birds and sighting of colourful butterflies.

Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary and Gorumara Wildlife Sanctuary are also nearby so one can definitely go for car safaris by just hiring a car from Paren or coming down to Chalsa and Lataguri to book a car.

The famous Jaldhaka River is just 10 kms away and the Hydel Power Station at nearby Bindu is the first Hydel Power station in India bordering India and Bhutan.

How To Reach

Located at a distance of 112kms from Siliguri visitors can directly hire a car from Siliguri to reach Paren. Visitors hailing from other region can board a train for NJP. NJP is the closest railway station from Paren. The distance between NJP to Paren being only 97km. They can also board a flight for Bagdogra. At a distance of 110km Bagdogra is the closest airport from Paren. Visitors can rent a car from NJP or hire a taxi from Bagdogra to reach Paren Nature Resort.
