INNOVATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY WITH IPHONE 15, PRO, AND PRO MAX.

Last week, Mumbai burst into a riot of colors as Ganesh Chaturthi festivities took over the city. Every narrow alley transformed into a vibrant party hub, teeming with jubilant crowds. It was undoubtedly one of the most exhilarating times to be in Mumbai, especially for renowned photographers like Sumanta, whose lens constantly transitions from the glitz of fashion weeks to capturing celebrities in photoshoots, and even the simplicity and complexity of everyday life.

This year, sumanta came equipped with a unique tool in her photography arsenal—the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Yes, the very phone that recently hit the market, caused an unprecedented surge in demand. Her mission was clear: to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi and capture every moment with the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The results were nothing short of spectacular because, as the young photographer puts it, the best camera is the one that’s always at hand.

“It’s lighter by approximately 20g on paper compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max, but when you actually use the phone, you can feel the difference. It’s more comfortable to hold and shoot,” Sumanta remarks. She has a valid point; the titanium design has significantly reduced the phone’s weight, making it ergonomically friendly despite its substantial 221g weight, which might feel like a feather when holding such a flagship device with a sprawling 6.7-inch display.

Sumanta, a longtime iPhone user, is intimately acquainted with the device’s intricacies. She recognizes the significance of a key upgrade on the phone—the Action button, which has replaced the Ring/Silent switch on the iPhone 15 Pro models. This button’s versatility allows users to assign various functions, and its accessibility proves invaluable for frequently performed actions, such as quickly accessing the camera.

“When you’re in a bustling crowd during celebrations and spot something intriguing, you just want to pull out your phone and start shooting. Using the Action button is a foolproof way to access the camera,” she explains.

Now, let’s delve into the real powerhouses of the phone—the cameras. Sumanta is genuinely surprised by the strides made in the camera department. While taking photos in low-light conditions with the new iPhone 15 Pro Max, she compared them to shots taken with her iPhone 14 Pro Max on several occasions and noted a significant improvement.

She particularly appreciates the ability to adjust portrait focus after taking a photo. “When you’re capturing moments on the go, you don’t always know the perfect mode you need. Later, upon reviewing a photo, you may realize it should have been taken in Portrait Mode.” The iPhone 15 series, both the regular and Pro versions, offers a clever solution: you can add the desired effect later. Whenever the camera detects a face, cat, or dog in the frame, it automatically saves depth information in the image file. In the Photos app, you’ll find an option (represented by the letter ‘f,’ signifying f-stop) to enable Portrait Mode and adjust the depth effect as needed.

The iPhone 15 Pro models have achieved something truly remarkable through a deep integration of hardware and software. These advanced camera systems incorporate the equivalent of seven professional lenses, comprising three physical lenses and additional field of view options. This includes a macro lens, a 13mm ultra-wide f/22, a 24mm f/1.78 main camera, a 28mm and 35mm FOV from the main camera, a 2x 48mm equivalent FOV carried over from the previous iPhone, and either a 77mm f/2.8 lens on the iPhone 15 Pro or the new 120mm f/2.8 exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

“A standout feature for me is the telephoto lens. It’s a game-changer in terms of achieving the compression, depth, and clarity I desire. During the bustling Ganesh Chaturthi festivities, you can’t always navigate through the sea of people to capture the perfect shot. The new 5x zoom, available only on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, helps me frame shots more precisely. It delivers the compression I truly enjoy, and the new stabilizer works exceptionally well in low-light conditions,” Sumanta enthusiastically notes.

The 120mm lens, in particular, presents unique challenges due to the need for physically larger lenses. Apple ingeniously tackled this by employing a tetraprism design that fits within the phone’s thickness. This innovative approach not only provides optical image stabilization but also three-axis image stabilization, ensuring blur-free videos even in motion.

Sumanta also highlights the ability to record log (logarithmic) footage, a feature highly sought after by professional filmmakers. It grants flexibility in post-production, allowing for precise color grading and enhancement.

In conclusion, Sumanta’s verdict on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max is unequivocal: “I genuinely believe that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are the most comprehensive smartphones you can purchase.”
